Parsons State Hospital & Training Center (PSH&TC) proudly operates a sophisticated, high-level Building Management System (BMS) designed to deliver exceptional efficiency, reliability, and safety across their campus. This state-of-the-art system optimizes the operation, maintenance, and protection of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and supporting infrastructure. Under the dedicated Physical Plant/Central Services program, expert teams provide continuous 24/7 oversight of building systems, ensuring seamless performance for residents, staff, and vital programs throughout the facility.
Spanning a spacious 163 acres and encompassing 43 buildings totaling approximately 366,000 square feet, the campus features a thoughtfully designed mix of residential cottages, essential support facilities, and specialized program buildings. This expansive environment benefits from comprehensive building controls that enhance comfort and sustainability every day.
At the heart of the BMS are efficient variable air volume air handling units, robust boiler plant operations, carefully maintained steam and condensate piping with premium insulation, and reliable domestic hot water heating. These systems are seamlessly supported by a centralized energy management platform that provides precise monitoring and control of heating, cooling, and ventilation creating consistent, comfortable environments while minimizing energy use.
The BMS and its integrated controls extend across the entire campus, delivering reliable performance to all core facilities and ensuring optimal conditions in every area where residents live, learn, and thrive. The BMS provides substantial energy and operational savings year after year, alongside a meaningful reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. This forward-looking infrastructure provides dependable environmental controls, superior energy efficiency, and enhanced safety creating a secure, comfortable, and sustainable setting that supports the highest quality of care and services for residents, staff, and the entire PSH&TC community.
