C&C Group completed a full replacement of the Building Automation System (BAS) at Research Medical Center, a large acute-care hospital in Kansas City. The project modernized controls across an approximately 600,000-square-foot campus while maintaining continuous operation of all critical building systems.

The Challenge

As a fully occupied healthcare facility, Research Medical Center required uninterrupted HVAC and environmental control to support patient care and clinical operations. The existing BAS was outdated and increasingly unreliable, yet system downtime was not an option. The size of the campus and complexity of hospital systems required precise coordination and execution.

The C&C Group Solution

C&C Group implemented a phased, multi-year BAS replacement strategy that allowed new controls to be installed, commissioned, and cut over while the legacy system remained operational. Working closely with hospital facilities staff, C&C Group ensured all transitions occurred without disruption to patient care. Temporary controls, parallel operation, and carefully scheduled changeovers were used to maintain full system functionality throughout the project.

Results

  • Complete replacement of the legacy BAS with a modern, scalable platform
  • Zero disruption to hospital operations during the three-year project
  • Improved system reliability, visibility, and long-term maintainability
  • Automation infrastructure positioned to support future hospital growth

Conclusion

C&C Group delivered a successful, zero-downtime BAS replacement for a mission-critical healthcare facility. Through detailed planning, phased execution, and close collaboration, C&C Group demonstrated its ability to modernize complex building systems while keeping hospitals fully operational.
