In 1997 C&C Group was selected to install the campus-wide building automation system throughout the entire 20 building footprint, covering 200 acres and approximately 4 million square feet. At the time of construction the $700 million dollar campus was the largest office project ever undertaken in the Midwest. The campus consists of a central utility plant housing seven chillers, five cooling towers, 25 primary/secondary pumps as well as a complete backup power generation facility all integrated into a single BAS. Throughout the campus there are 67 air handlers over 4,000 terminal units (VAV and FPB’s) and approximately 50 CRAC units as well as assortments of other mechanical equipment. Being a telecommunications company there are also data centers, call centers, network operations centers all with the necessary mechanical and associated control equipment to support these mission critical environments. The single system consists of millions of data points that are archived for one year as well as virtual fail over redundancy. We recently completed campus-wide upgrade of the system in July of 2020 that was completed on time, within budget and completed in only one years’ time. In addition to the campus wide system upgrade we added building analytics to the system allowing the owner to proactively manage the system and reducing their overall cost to operate the campus.
